Update: I bought an HP-2133 from NCIX about a month ago. It’s a neat little unit - I still prefer my MacBook Pro, but the 2133 is a nice secondary computer.
I love my MacBook Pro, but to be honest at times it can be a bit much to lug around. I picked up a Nokia N800 Internet Tablet, but I find it to bit somewhat slow, and it’s not easy to write full blog posts with. The ASUS Eee-PC also caught my eye recently, but its tiny keyboard and relatively cheap construction left me wanting more.
So when HP announced their new HP 2133 Mini-note laptop, I perked up. Aluminum chassis, 8.9″ screen, and it ships with two batteries (standard and extended)! The price was right too, $499 for the entry-level Linux version with a 4 GB flash drive, or $549 for a similar model with a 120 GB hard drive.
Of course, finding one of these in Canada has been a problem. But things are looking up - the Canadian HP website now contains 2133 specs and information, although still no way to buy one.
Does anybody know of a Canadian retailer, online or off, that carries these laptops?

Good luck finding one, anywhere… I ordered my on the 17th, and HP says it will get here on the 5th of May. There are people who are waiting even longer as well…
Also, I don’t think it ships with both batteries but it but it might be different there in Canada.

I called HP Canada on May-1-2008, they said the computer will be here 2 or 3 weeks later.
Can you give me which operating system should I take ? Linus or Window ? for sure the computer with 120Gb hard drive is better, I notice the Linus machine will start up faster and there are so many Window programs out there.
Thanks

Richard: whether the 120 gb hard drive model is “better” or not depends on your viewpoint. Do you want lots of storage or do you want fast seek times and low power consumption? If the latter, then the 4 GB flash model is the way to go.
As for Linux versus Windows, that also depends on how you plan to use the laptop. Is this a replacement for your desktop, or like me, are you planning to use it as a small note-taking device that you can easily carry when you travel? In that case, Linux would definitely be the way to go. I might still buy the version with Windows, just to have the Windows license handy when I go to resell the device in a couple years. More than likely, I’ll end up installing my own customized Linux system on top of it anyways.
